Match Ludii AI-JMClavero
Madrid. 06/09/2025-21/09/2025

Shatranj. Game 1.
JMClavero-Ludii AI (10s). Easy win with White.
Ludii AI tried an early surprise by setting up the Kings on the 'e' file, but that didn't alter the final result.

Initial Setup

Final Position

Chess. Game 2.
Ludii AI (10s)-JMClavero. A new early surprise, in the form of a very aggresive and misled opening by White. An easy win for Black, though.

The Bill Gates Attack
The game

Makruk. Game 3.
JMClavero-Ludii AI (10s). A rather negative surprise this time, since Ludii's implementation of Makruk follows some significantly different rules from those described on this site. Nevertheless, an easy win for White.

Initial Setup

Xiangqi. Game 4.
Ludii AI (10s)-JMClavero. Yet another depressing performance by Ludii AI, this time verging on the suicidal playing style. What's worse, the colour convention on the GUI is absolutely misleading. I was second to move and my pieces where painted in red. Anyway.

Final position

Janggi. Game 5.
JMClavero-Ludii AI (10s). A really sordid affair. To begin with, there was no choice of initial setup available for any player, so the game had to be played as Inner Elephants by force. Then, both Ludii AI and me, started playing like maniacs, dropping pieces at every instance...In the end, a win for Blue, but whatever.

Initial Setup

Final Position

Shogi. Game 6.
Ludii AI (10s) - JMClavero. A sad story of senseless sacrifices and obvious blunders by Ludii AI and a subsequent quick checkmate.

Initial Setup

Hnefatafl. Game 7.
Hnefatafl. Game 8.
JMClavero-Ludii AI (10s). Long game, but the result was never in doubt.

Final Position
Ludii AI (10s)-JMClavero. This time, the game was shorter.

Final Position

Shatranj. Game 9.
Ludii AI (10s)-JMClavero. Another coasting game with the Black pieces.

Final Position

Afterword
Having secured the overall victory by game 9, I've forfeited the remaining games, and so granted some points to my opponent.
In summary, Ludii AI, as of version 1.3.14, has proved to be no match for humans at any of the seven games involved.
I foresee, nevertheless, further matches both with Ludii and other engines.
